By the Bridge with Sue Jonston

Deckchair produced a 40 minute promotional documentary for the inspirational independent fostering organisation, By the Bridge. Narrated by Sue Johnston, known best for her roles in the Royle Family and Waking the Dead, the film is split into 14 chapters and is available online as well as in a gift set DVD.

One of the foster children featured in the film, Phillip, gained valuable work experience assisting on the shoot in sound and lighting and even took part in some interviews. Phillip and his foster mother, Juliet, also had the great privilege of joining Sue Johnston in the studio in London as she recorded the voice over. Sue, who is associated with various childcare associations, was incredibly supportive of the project and very kind to Phillip and Juliet.

The greatest challenge of the By the Bridge experience is in the recruitment of potential foster parents. Words on a web page have not been sufficient to convey what By the Bridge does. We are very proud to help and therefore hope that our film will make all the difference for a wonderful company doing excellent things.
