James ran a successful design consultancy before working with CNN, where he is Head of Digital at Turner Commercial Productions, responsible for global advertising campaigns for all CNN’s major clients.
James first worked with Deckchair as a designer on Richard III at the Bloomsbury Theatre in 2004. With a background as a professional stills photographer. He shot various short films and documentaries before gaining recognition as director of photography on the feature film ‘La Bella Figura’ filmed on location in Rome in 2006.
'Melaku, Child Genius' is James' first directorial outing with Deckchair, which started life as a photographic side-project whilst volunteering in Ethiopia before stumbling across a most remarkable story.
